TUSCAN MUSICAL THEATRE PROJECT
for musical theatre enthusiasts of all ages
and singers of all styles
July 28-Aug 5, 2012
Join us in magical Tuscany on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea for a unique mix of training and cultural tourism sure to push your artistic edges and open your heart & mind.
A BIT ABOUT HOW WE WILL LIVE: This program has been created to give you an opportunity to experience life in an Italian seaside town, a simple but rich life in which we hope you'll discover la bella vita -- the beautiful life in which we slow down and take time to enjoy a place, its food, its art... and each other.
Your home for the 8 days will be the port town of Livorno, decidedly NOT a tourist destination, with a rich history of tolerance and racial diversity. You will be housed in apartments in the center of town and see a more normal side of Italy.
OPTIONAL FLORENCE-PISA-WINERY EXCURSION: There will be one free day during the program during which we have programmed an exclusive day trip to the legendary cities of Florence and Pisa and a delightful Chianti winery. Knowing that some folks might want to go somewhere of their own choosing or simply have a day to relax at the beach, this day trip is optional (for a very reasonable price, however). It will be conducted by our transport partner, Papillon Service, using air conditioned, luxury Mercedes vehicles.
For more info, please visit www.PapillonService.com under Shore Excursions from Livorno. Papillon is also available for transfers to and from Pisa airport or train station to Livorno (special rates for La Bella Vita clients).
MORE ON THE WORKSHOP:
THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED FOR musical theatre enthusiasts wanting to sharpen their skills in all areas AND FOR singers of all styles wanting to connect with themselves physically or learn basic movement and dance principles. In either case, you will find a friendly yet professional environment in which you will be presented with a solid focus on technique as well as some fun things to open the doors to greater creativity, intuition, and expressiveness. If you are seeking to discover and develop yourself as an artsit from all perspectives -- physical, emotional and psychological -- this program is for you.
Singing instruction will focus on musical skills, technique, song interpretation and performance. Regarding vocal technique, the fundamental goal is to help students create a personal approach that is healthy, honest, and filled with ease and freedom. We will also focus significantly on how to bring yourself personally to the material you want to sing.
Movement instruction will focus on basic principles such as placement and change of weight, coordination, rythym and developing a natural sense of groove. Dance basics will focus a great deal on musicality, and will break down simple techniques of turns and jumps as well as explain how to create stylized movement based on a chosen piece of music.
All of this will be tied together with theatrical exercises/approaches to singing, movement, and character development. We will also begin or end each day with yoga or some type of moving meditation to improve your flexibility, strength, tranquility and energy.
Much more detail can be provided on request, please write to us.
